Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Nina Klein

On what it feels like to win the title:
"I'm just ecstatic. We've been working since August to get here and honestly, I'm speechless."

Junior midfielder Mckenzie Townsend

On winning back-to-back titles:

"This is what we play for our whole lives. It's a dream to even come to a Division I school and then your dreams get bigger and you want to win the national title. Then you come and think it can't get any better than this until you get here again."

On scoring the game-winning goal:

"It was such a team effort. You have the person who gets the corner. The push-out has to be perfect, the stop has to be perfect and the strike in has to be in to the right spot. I'm just the lucky one who gets to have the last touch on it."

Head coach Nancy Stevens

On winning a second national championship in two years:

"To go back-to-back is such a testament to the work ethic of our four seniors and our entire team.   Our two team captains, Chrissy Davidson and Roisin Upton,  were truly exceptional this weekend. In the national championship game, Anna Middendorf was an absolute revelation. She was so terrific. Nina Klein, who is a redshirt-freshman, had two shutouts in goal in the national semifinals and finals. Mackenzie Townsend has scored two game winning goals in consecutive national championship games.  Our entire team played with one heartbeat this weekend."

On playing Syracuse and winning the national title:

"We came in on Friday after our win and some of the media was so concerned because we didn't get a penalty corner and I though that's a defensive masterpiece. I think if you are in the World Series and you get a no-hitter and score one run, what are they talking about? They're not saying you only got a run, they're saying you pitched a no-hitter. It's amazing. That was the goal. We pitched two no-hitters against such stout defense like Syracuse and Albany you are not going to score that many goals. We are just thrilled beyond measure. Syracuse had a magical season. They started 0-3 in their conference, which is obviously the top conference in the country, but they just battled and fought. For Ange Bradley and her coaching staff to get their team here to the National Championship game, after starting 0-3 in their conference, what a tribute to the resilience of her team. I know one quote that I love that she gave is that we teach toughness. It's a great life lesson, and I think she does. We've always had great respect for Syracuse, we've loved playing them every year in our conference. It's such a spirited rivalry. It was really special to have a UConn-Syracuse rematch."

On the team's motivation:

"We just tried all season to live in the moment. We have to be appreciative of this moment and be thankful that we had this opportunity to bring a fourth field hockey National Championship back to UConn. "
