STORRS, Conn. – Former University of Connecticut field hockey student-athlete Anna Easty is set to play for the Canadian Women’s Indoor National Team as it prepares to compete in the 2015 Indoor World Cup this week in Leipzig, Germany.
Canada is set to open the four-day tournament, held at the Leipzig Arena, on Feb. 4 against Austria at 10:15 a.m. Later that evening, the squad will challenge defending champion Germany at 7 p.m. before a pair of contests against Australia and Ukraine on Feb. 5.
A 2009 NFHCA National Academic Team member, Easty appeared in 29 games for the Huskies from 2007-09, recording a pair of assists. In 2009, she earned one start and saw time in 10 games, dishing out an assist against Harvard on Sept. 23. As a sophomore, she saw action in three games and recorded an assist in the Huskies’ season-opening win over Sacred Heart on Aug. 28 before being selected as a Big East All-Academic Team member.
Prior to her time with Connecticut, she was a three-time team MVP at Havergal College in Toronto, Canda, recording double-figure goals and assists in three-straight seasons.
The team qualified for the competition by winning the 2014 Indoor Pan American Cup in Montevideo, Uruguay, topping Argentine, 3-1, to secure a berth.
