Heistand, USA U-21 National Team Head to Spooky Nook to Challenge Canada

University of Connecticut freshman midfielder Karlie Heistand (Hamburg, Pa.) and the USA Field Hockey U-21 National Team are set for busy weekend when they challenge Canada four times over a five-day stretch at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pa.

The squad kicks off competition on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. with a game against their North American foes and returns to the pitch the next day at 3:15 p.m. Following a day off, the two teams resume play on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. before rounding out the four-game series on Feb. 16 with an 11:45 p.m. showdown. Heistand saw action in 22 games for the Huskies in the 2014 season, earning 15 starts. She registered her first collegiate point with an assist in UConn’s 6-1 win over Kent. St. on Nov. 15 in the NCAA First Round. Prior to her time at Connecticut, she earned two All-State selections at Hamburg Area High School, combining for 47 goals and 29 helpers in her final two seasons.



Additionally, Heistand’s older sister Rayell, who competed at UConn from 2008-11, and former Husky standout Melissa Gonzalez will play for the U.S. Women’s National Team when it challenges Argentina at Spooky Nook from Feb. 13-18. Click HERE for a full schedule.
