STORRS, Conn. -
The annual HuskyThon dance marathon fundraiser was held on the UConn campus on the weekend of Feb. 17-18 and student-athletes were once again a big part of the successful event.
HuskyThon is year-long fundraising effort by UConn students that raises money for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The highlight of that year is the dance marathon, which takes place in the Greer Field House.
This year’s event raised an incredible $836,174.52 for CCMC, an all-time high for the event, and featured the participation of over 2,700 UConn students.
UConn field hockey had its own team at the event – Team Infinity – and four members danced the entire 18 hours – Olivia Bolles, Montana Fleming, Anna Middendorf and Charlotte Veitner. Bolles is the captain of Team Infinity and has participated in HuskyThon for four years.
Student-athletes from the sports of football, rowing, women’s soccer and women’s cross country/track and field also took part in the great event.
Many UConn student-athletes met with patients of their families of CCMC before the HuskyThon and ate dinner with them in the Rome Ballroom before they were honored the event.
UConn student-athletes were also involved in making a promotional video for the event, including members of the softball, lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, swimming and diving, field hockey and track and field teams.
