STORRS, Conn. -- The 2014 NCAA Division I national champion University of Connecticut field hockey program makes its return to the pitch when it opens its 2015 spring schedule from on April 18. The team is set to play three full-length games and will also participate in one tournament.
The Huskies kick off the spring slate on Saturday, April 18 with a 4 p.m. contest against Virginia at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. The following day, UConn will host Quinnipiac in Storrs at 10 a.m.
Next up, Connecticut will travel to UMass for a 4 p.m. tilt against the Minutewomen on Friday, April 24th before traveling to Boston College to play four 30-minute sessions against the Eagles (11:20 a.m.), Harvard (12:35 p.m.), Quinnipiac (2:25 p.m.) and Boston University (3:35 p.m.) in tournament action.
Each game will be played with a full 11 vs. 11 field and all penalty corners will be played out.
In February, the team hosted and won an indoor tournament, featuring UMass and Fairfield.
UConn is coming off its second-straight and fourth total national championship in the 2014 campaign. The Huskies capped their incredible season with 14-straight wins and have won eight straight NCAA Tournament contests, hoisting two trophies in as many years. Overall, Connecticut owns a 37-22 (.627) mark in the national tournament and has won 24 of 41 tournament games since head coach Nancy Stevens arrived to the Storrs campus prior to the 1990 season.
