COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Paul Caddy and the five former and current Huskies competing on the North Region team in the Women's National Championship in College Park, Md. have reached the semifinals. 2011 UConn graduate Melissa Gonzalez is a co-captain of the team and joined by 2012 graduates Jestine Angelini and Rayell Heistand and current Huskies senior Alicia Angelini and junior Marie Elena Bolles with Husky Associate Head Coach Paul Caddy leading the charge.

The semifinals, which is the furthest the North Region has ever advanced to, will be held on Wednesday, June 6 at 6 p.m. and the team will face the Pennsylvania Region. The team started the championship by falling to New Jersey before defeating Mid Atlantic and California to earn a trip to the semifinals.

The Women's National Championship, held at University of Maryland, features the most elite athletes in the country, including collegiate all-stars, current National Team members and members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Women's Field Hockey Team. Athletes will compete for the title of regional champions, but more importantly vie for a spot on the National Squad roster and the opportunity to represent the U.S. on the international stage.
