For the eighth consecutive year, the Huskies were selected to finish first in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll on Thursday. UConn finished the 2016 regular season 18-1, going on to collect its 16th BIG EAST Regular Season and Championship title under Head Coach Nancy Stevens.

In addition to being named the preseason favorite, four UConn players were selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team – redshirt-senior Nina Klein, seniors Casey Umstead and Charlotte Veitner and sophomore Barbara van den Hoogen.

The meeting with Rutgers will come just six days before the season opener against Stanford on Friday, August 25 at 1:00 p.m. The Huskies will host a pair of home games that weekend as the team is set to entertain Northwestern on Sunday, Aug. 27 for a 1:00 p.m. matinee.
