STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut field hockey team has been ranked No. 4 in the 2013 Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Preseason Poll as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies concluded the 2012 campaign with a 19-3 overall mark, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinal. Additionally, the Huskies took home the championship hardware from the BIG EAST Tournament for the 12th time in program history.

The Huskies were the top BIG EAST squad in this year's preseason poll as they received 749 points with league opponent Old Dominion being picked eighth with 589 points. Only North Carolina, Maryland and Princeton were picked ahead of Uconn with Syracuse rounding out the top-five.

UConn will open the 2013 season on Saturday, August 31, when the Huskies travel to the West Coast to take on No. 12 Stanford. Game time is set for 2 p.m. EDT.
