STORRS, Conn. - Connecticut junior Marie Elena Bolles has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after leading No. 6 UConn past No. 9 Penn State, 2-1, on Friday night. Bolles has led the UConn field hockey team to a 3-0 record.
Bolles was sensational in a top-10 matchup for the Huskies this weekend. UConn went into halftime down 1-0 to Penn State, but the tying goal from Bolles came just ten minutes into the second half. The junior struck again six minutes later to give the Huskies the 2-1 lead. The four-point performance from the 2012 BIG EAST Field Hockey Preseason Offensive Player of the Year makes her the team leader in points and assists.
Connecticut will play Michigan on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Albany, N.Y. The Huskies will face Albany on Sunday at 2 p.m.
