STORRS, Conn. - 2013 Preseason Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year Sarah Mansfield has been honored as the league Defensive Player of the Week as announced on Monday.  Mansfield has now been named as the Defensive Player of the Week seven times in her career and twice this season.

The Cornwall, England native anchored a UConn defense that recorded a pair of shut out victories in a 2-0 week for the fourth-ranked Huskies.  Mansfield made three saves in Friday’s 4-0 victory against Fairfield and followed that up with two more in UConn’s 4-0 win over Lafayette.

Additionally, Mansfield’s career record now stands at 59-12 and she is now the school record holder for most wins.  The Cornwall, England native surpassed former Husky Danielle Vile’s record of 58 career wins, which had stood since 1999.

Mansfield and the Huskies are back in action on Tuesday, September 18 when the team squares-off against No. 7 UMass in Storrs.  Game time is set for 6 p.m. at the George J Sherman Family Sports Complex.
