STORRS, Conn. -
Following her program-record six goal performance in an 8-0 win over then-No. 14 Virginia on Sunday, junior Charlotte Veitner has been named the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Veitner, a 2015 First Team All-American, leads the No. 3 Huskies (7-0, 1-0 Big East) in goals with eight and points with 22. Her 169 career points are third all-time on UConn's career points list and she is only nine points away from tying Tracey Fuchs for second.

Against then-No. 13 Old Dominion on Friday, Veitner recorded two clutch assists  - including one on the game-winner to senior Anna Middendorf - in a 2-1 win for the Huskies down in Norfolk, Va. She is tied with sophomore Amanda Collins with a team-high six assists.

Four of her six goals were scored in the second half against the Cavaliers on Sunday, as the victory capped-off a weekend with two wins over ranked opponents and helped propel UConn two spots higher in the NFHCA Coaches Poll.

Her six goals and 12 points against Virginia are both program records for a single game by a UConn field hockey player. Veitner led the nation in scoring in 2015, recording 39 goals and 21 assists for 99 total points.

No. 3 UConn hosts Temple in Big East action on Friday at 3 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. The Huskies travel to play No. 9 Boston University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
