STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn field hockey team has its sights on reaching the NCAA Final Four later this month from Nov. 18-20, but senior Olivia Bolles just punched her ticket to Norfolk, Va. regardless.
Bolles was one of 38 student-athletes chosen to compete in the Victory Sports Tour/NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 19 as part of the Final Four events that weekend on the Old Dominion campus.
One of six players from the Big East to earn the honor, Bolles will have the chance to compete against senior players from across the country on that Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (ET). The NCAA semifinals are on Nov. 18 and the NCAA championship game is on Nov. 20.
Bolles has been a staple on the backline for UConn this season, teaming up with senior Anna Middendorf, junior Casey Umstead and redshirt junior Nina Klein in holding opponents to just 1.20 goals per game, eighth-best in Division I.
This season, she has one goal and four assists in 18 starts for the Huskies (18-1, 7-0 Big East). She scored against then-No. 14 Virginia in an 8-0 win back on Sept. 18.
As a sophomore and junior, Bolles was named All-Big East Second Team. In 2015, she was also selected All-Mideast Region First Team, as part of UConn’s run to the NCAA semifinals.
The Huskies prepare for the Big East Tournament this weekend in Philadelphia, as top-seeded UConn faces fourth-seeded Temple in the semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m. (ET). A win would put UConn in the Big East final on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET).
