No. 3 Field Hockey Draws Winner of Kent State/Delaware in NCAA First Round

STORRS, Conn. –
The No. 3 University of Connecticut field hockey team has earned a spot in the 2014 Division I Field Hockey Championship and will face the winner of Kent St./Delaware on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs at 11:30 a.m.

The Huskies, who enter NCAA Tournament play with a 16-2 overall record, earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning their 14th BIG EAST Tournament on Sunday in Providence. The Huskies were tabbed as the third overall seed in the national tournament.

The winner of the UConn – Kent St./Delaware contest will square-off against either Louisville or Stanford at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 with a berth to the NCAA Tournament National Semifinals on the line.

The team is appearing in its 26th NCAA Tournament and owns an all-time mark of 33-22 in NCAA postseason action. Connecticut is 18-7 all-time in NCAA Tournament first round games. Connecticut has appeared in National Semifinals on 11 different occasions and has three national titles to its name (1981, 1985, 2013).
