    2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket

    This Weekend's Game Notes

STORRS, Conn. -The No. 7 University of Connecticut field hockey team has earned an automatic bid into the 2013 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship and will face No. 11 Boston College on Saturday, November 16 in Syracuse, N.Y. at 2 p.m. in the First Round.

The winner of the UConn vs. BC contest will square-off against either No. 2 Syracuse or the winner of the opening round game between Miami (Ohio) and Michigan State on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Syracuse with a berth to the NCAA National Semifinal on the line.

UConn is 27-10-1 all-time against the Eagles but dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to BC earlier this year in Storrs.  The Eagles enter NCAA Tournament play with a 12-7 overall record, including a 1-5 mark in the ACC.  BC dropped a 3-1 decision to Syracuse in the first round of this weekend’s ACC Tournament.

The Huskies, who enter NCAA Tournament play with a 17-4 overall record, earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning their 13th BIG EAST Tournament last weekend in Storrs.

The team is appearing in its 25th NCAA Tournament and owns an all-time mark of 29-22 in NCAA postseason action. Connecticut is 17-7 all-time in NCAA Tournament first round games, including a 2-1 victory over Northeastern last season.

Connecticut has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 12 seasons and 17 of the last 18 overall.

UConn has advanced to the national semifinals 10 times in the program's history and won the 1981 and 1985 national championship. Check back at UConnHuskies.com for more information.
