Five Field Hockey Standouts Selected to All-Region Team

Marie Elena Bolles earns second All-Region nod.

STORRS, Conn.  – The University of Connecticut field hockey team had five Huskies tabbed to a 2012 Longstretch/NFHCA Division I All-Region Team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday morning. Graduate student Louisa Boddy, junior Marie Elena Bolles, sophomore Chloe Hunnable and junior Sarah Mansfield each earned a seat on the Mideast Region First Team, while senior Alicia Angelini was selected to the Second Team.

The UConn squad has now had 77 Huskies earn a total of 152 selections to the All-Mideast Region Team.

Mansfield, selected to the 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team, was named to the All-Region Team for the third consecutive year and is the 22nd Husky to dot the list three times. Mansfield started in the cage all 22 Husky contests and finished the season with a 1.13 goals against average as she compiled a 19-3 record.

Additionally, this marks the second All-Region honor for Bolles and Hunnable.

Bolles, the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, concluded her junior season with 32 points, while Boddy was second on the team with 39 points with a team-best 16 goals. For the second consecutive year Hunnable led the team in points with 41 on her 15 goals and 11 assists.  Angelini ended the year with 14 points on five goals and four assists.

The 2012 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be announced on Tuesday, November 20th.
