Seven Field Hockey Standouts Earn All-Region Status

STORRS, Conn. - Seven University of Connecticut field hockey standouts have been honored as 2011 All-Mideast Region selections as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday, November 17. Jestine Angelini, Marie Elena Bolles, Rayell Heistand, Anne Jeute and Sarah Mansfield were each honored on the First Team while Ali Blankmeyer and Chloe Hunnable earned Second Team recognition.

75 Connecticut field hockey players have now earned a total of 147 All-Region selections.

Heistand is the 21st Husky all-time to earn at least three selections to the All-Mideast Region Team.

In addition to Heistand, Angelini, Blankmeyer, Jeute and Mansfield have each earned multiple selections to the squad.

Connecticut, the 2011 BIG EAST Regular Season Champion, is 19-2 overall this season and earned the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.

The Huskies defeated Princeton and No. 7 Penn State last weekend to advance to this weekend's National Semifinal in Louisville, Ky. UConn will square-off against No. 1 North Carolina on Friday at 2 p.m.
