STORRS, Conn. - Field Hockey Head Coach Nancy Stevens was named the 2011 Dita/NFHCA Mideast Region Coach of the Year as announced on Wednesday. The coaching accolade marks her second of the year as she was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in November.

Stevens, a seven-time BIG EAST Coach of the Year, was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association after leading the Huskies to a 19-3 overall record and trip to NCAA Final Four. UConn fell short of the national championship game with a 4-3 double overtime loss to North Carolina in the Final Four.

Stevens, a 2007 NFHCA Hall of Fame Inductee, guided Connecticut to the 2011 BIG EAST Regular Season title along with eight players earning postseason honors by the BIG EAST, seven earning All-Mideast status, four being named All-Americans and senior Jestine Angelini being named the Mideast Region Player of the Year.
