STORRS, Conn.-The University of Connecticut is currently sitting in a three-way tie at 13th place for the women’s 2011-12 Capital One Cup as it has earned 10 points after the completion of fall NCAA championships. The yearly award is given to the best men’s and women’s Division I college programs in the nation. Each university’s teams earn can earn points for for top ten finishes in NCAA Championships and final official coaches’ poll.
The Husky field hockey squad is tied for third with Old Dominion following their trip to the 2011 Final Four in Louisville, Ky. The third place seat contributes 10 points for UConn in the final annual tally. At the end of the 2011-12 NCAA spring championships, Capital One awards up to $400,000 in student-athlete scholarships and a Capital One Cup trophy to the victorious schools.
