DURHAM, N.H.The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team suffered a 1-0 Hockey East setback at the University of New Hampshire, Friday evening.  The Huskies fell to 3-14-6 overall and 2-6-2 in league play, while the Wildcats improved to 7-13-3 and earned their first conference win to lift their record to 1-7-2.

The lone goal of the game for UNH came early on as Emma Clark, assisted by Bryanna Farris and Caroline Broderick, lit the lamp for her first goal of the season.

In a game that lacked offense on either side, the Wildcats held a 21-15 advantage in shots, 14 of which came in the first period.

Senior goaltender Alexandra Garcia (Point-Claire, Que.) made 20 saves for UConn, but was outdone by Lindsey Minton’s 15 stops.

Both teams went on the power play four times and neither was able to find the back of the net with a one skater advantage.  The Connecticut penalty kill, which entered the night fifth in the nation, improved to 89.1 percent and has shutdown 31 of the last 32 power plays faced.

UConn and UNH take to the ice for a matinee game tomorrow at 4:00 pm.
