    STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team fell to the University of New Hampshire, 2-0, in Hockey East action at the Freitas Ice Forum, Sunday afternoon.

    The Wildcats (10-11-2, 6-4-1) scored twice in the first period in support of a 19-save shutout effort by sophomore goaltender Jenn Gilligan.

    Freshman Sara Carlson scored the first goal of the game on UNH’s only power play of the game.  Later in the period, senior Kristina Lavoie doubled the lead with a score, assisted by Carlson.

    The Huskies (3-19-2, 1-10-0) were outshot by New Hampshire, 26-19, and went 0-for-3 on the power play.

    Freshman goaltender Elaine Chuli (Waterford, Conn.) made 24 saves for Connecticut.

    UConn returns to action next Saturday against Maine at 1:00 pm in Storrs.
