CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 2 Boston College in Hockey East play on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (22-5-2, 14-2-1) took a 3-0 lead before the first intermission; led by two goals from sophomore Alex Carpenter.
The Huskies (3-24-3, 1-15-1) got on the board at the 6:35 mark as freshman Michela Cava (Thunder Bay, Ont.) netted her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Senior Kelly Horan (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman Brittany Berisoff (Kelowna, B.C.) assisted on the score. Junior goaltender Sarah Moses (New Hamburg, Ont.) kept BC off the board in the second with 16 saves.
Boston College would double its score in the third period with three goals.
Moses finished the game with 42 saves, while senior Corrine Boyles stopped 17 for the Eagles as BC outshot UConn 48-18.
The two teams meet again tomorrow for a 2:00 pm face-off at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn.
