Women's Hockey Knocked Out in WHEA Quarters by BU

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team’s season came to an end with a 5-1 loss to No. 4 Boston University in the Hockey East Quarterfinals at Walter Brown Arena, Saturday afternoon.  The Huskies finished the season 3-29-3 overall, while the Terriers move on to the semifinals at 24-5-3.

Down 2-0 in the second, freshman Margaret Zimmer (St. Charles, Ill.) cut the BU lead to one with her second goal of the season.  Junior Stephanie Raithby (London, Ont.) and sophomore Emily Snodgrass (Eagan, Minn.) assisted on the play.

In the third period, the Terriers went on a 3-0 run to put the game away behind to goals by Jenelle Kohanchuk, including an extra attacker goal at the 10:18 mark.

Freshman goaltender Elaine Chuli (Waterford, Ont.) stopped 30 saves for the Huskies, including 16 in the first period.  Kerrin Sperry made 16 saves for BU as UConn was outshot, 35-17.

The Huskies went 0-for-7 on the power play, while also killing off all five power play chances for the Terriers.
