BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team fell to Vermont, 5-1, on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Sarah MacDonnell (Quispamsis, Que.) scored the lone goal of the game for the Huskies (2-10-1, 1-5-0 Hockey East).  The goal was on a power play and her third of the season, assisted by classmate Caitlin Hewes (Stillwater, Minn.) and freshman Brittany Berisoff (Kelowna, B.C.).

The Catamounts (3-9-1, 2-3-1) jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first period and never looked back.  Twice, UVM scored on the power play and was led by two first-period scores from Amanda Pelkey.

Freshman goaltender Elaine Chuli (Waterford, Ont.) made 36 saves for Connecticut, while Roxanne Douville had 22 for Vermont.

The Huskies return to action at home on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 pm against St. Lawrence.
