WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore forward Kayla Campero (Wallingford, Conn.) of the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team has been named the Athletic Republic Player of the Week by Hockey East for the week ending January 6.

Campero led the Husky offense in a 1-1 week against ECAC opponent Princeton.  She posted four points, all in the series-opening 5-1 win, a career-high for a single game.  For the weekend, Campero led UConn with 10 shots on net and was a plus (+) three on the ice.

Twice the conference’s rookie of the week last season, Campero is tied for second on the team in points with 10.  The Huskies return to action tomorrow night when they host No. 6 Boston University at 7:00 pm at the Freitas Ice Forum.
