DETROIT, MI - The University of Connecticut womens ice hockey team fell to Wayne State 9-0 at the City Ice Arena in Detroit, MI on Saturday evening. With the loss, UConn drops to 2-5 overall, while Wayne State improves to 3-15 on the season.
Amy Peters led the Warriors with two goals in the second period. Serena Hillman recorded one goal and two assists, while Kim Spaulding netted one goal and one assist on the evening. Kelly Pike also added three assists.
The Warriors outshot the Huskies, 64-3. Diana Cohen (South Salem, NY) stopped 55 Wayne State shots. Wayne States Anna VanderMarliere, Stacey Bowden and Laura Tash each played a period apiece combining for three saves.
UConn will next travel to Findlay, Ohio to take on the Findlay Oilers on Sunday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m.
