STORRS, Conn. – Leading scorer, junior Leah Lum was named the Warrior Hockey East Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday. Lum was responsible for three out of UConn’s four total goals against Vermont this past weekend.
Averaging 1.5 goals per game this series, Lum notched the team’s first goal in Friday’s 4-2 loss to the Catamounts and followed that up with a two-goal showing on Saturday, lifting the Huskies to a 2-1 victory, which snapped UConn’s five-game loss streak.
In Saturday’s win over UVM, Lum put UConn up 1-0 after the first and 2-0 after the second. Her second goal of the day, a power play goal, marked her sixth power play tally of the season, the most of anyone on the team.
The Richmond, B.C. native currently leads the team with 17 goals this season and 25 total points. She has contributed at least one point in UConn’s last four consecutive games. Her two goals on Saturday marked her seventh multi-point game of the season.
Lum and the rest of the Huskies begin their four-game road stretch on Friday, Feb. 3 at Boston College. Puck drop is a 7 p.m.
