WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman forward Emily Snodgrass (Eagan, Minn.) was named the Hockey East/Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 5. It is the second time this season that Snodgrass has earned the weekly honor.
Snodgrass scored twice in a 1-1 weekend for the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team. In a 3-2 loss at No. 7/8 Northeastern on Saturday, she tallied her team-leading fourth power play goal of the season. At home on Sunday, Snodgrass added an insurance goal in the third period en route to a 6-3 win for the Huskies over the visiting New Hampshire Wildcats. She also assisted on a second period goal by senior Sami Evelyn (Nepean, Ont.) in the win over UNH.
For the season, Snodgrass has totaled a team-high 19 points on a team-best eight goals and is tied for the team-lead in assists with 11. She ranks sixth in the league in scoring amongst freshmen at 0.63 points per game.
Snodgrass previously was named the league's Rookie of the Week on November 21. This week marks the third Rookie of the Week honor awarded to a UConn player, as fellow freshman Kayla Campero (Wallingford, Conn.) was the last to earn it on December 5.
