WAKEFIELD, Mass. (February 11, 2008) - Sophomore forward Amy Hollstein (Pembroke, Mass.) was selected as the Hockey East's TPS Hockey Player of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced on Monday by the league office.
Hollstein led the Huskies with three points in a 1-1 weekend series against Providence. The sophomore recorded two points (1g, 1a) on Saturday in the 3-0 win over the Friars, while adding one point (1g) on Sunday in the Huskies' 5-3 loss.
Hollstein recorded her eighth goal of the year on Sunday and improved her season point tally to 19 as she picked up her 41st career point at UConn. With the stellar weekend performance, the sophomore became the seventh Husky this season to earn Hockey East weekly honors.
This was UConn's ninth week of the season in which a Husky has earned a Hockey East honor, while Hollstein became the fifth UConn player to earn the TPS Hockey Player of the Week honor this season.
UConn, currently 18-5-5 overall and 9-3-3 in Hockey East action will host Boston University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. before traveling to Boston, Mass. on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. conference match-up against the Terriers.
