WAKEFIELD, Mass. (February 18, 2008) - Sophomore Dominique Thibault (L'Orignal, Ont.) has been chosen as the Hockey East's TPS Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Thibault recorded six points in the two-game weekend series against Boston University. The sophomore recorded an assist on both goals scored in the 2-1 overtime victory over the Terriers on Saturday before recording two goals and two assists in the Huskies' 4-2 win over Boston University on Sunday.
UConn, currently 20-5-3 overall this season and 11-3-3 in the Hockey East, picked up a program-high 20 wins this season.
Thibault, who picked up her second collegiate four-point game on Sunday, has a team-leading 41 points this season, including a team-high 20 goals and a team second-best 21 assists.
The sophomore took over the top spot in the UConn women's ice hockey record books for points in a season with 41, beating out senior Jaclyn Hawkins' (Manotick, Ont.) previous record of 40 points from the 2004-05 season.
Thibault and the Huskies will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as they host Maine in a Hockey East match-up. Face off is set for 1:00 p.m.
