Women’s Hockey Adds Another Defensemen to Incoming Class

STORRS, Conn. – Head Coach Chris MacKenzie and the UConn women’s ice hockey team have announced the addition of Tristyn Svetek to the 2016-17 roster.

A native of Burlington, Ont., Svetek will be one of two incoming defensemen for the Huskies as she joins the existing class of six.

“We are excited to add Tristyn to our existing incoming class.  She has been a steady player that saved her best season for last.  I’m confident she’ll be able to compete for ice time right away,” said MacKenzie.

Before UConn: Served as an assistant captain for the Nepean Junior Wildcats this past season…2015 Champions Washington JWHL…participated in the Ontario Winter Games…was invited to the U18 Team Ontario Selection Camp in 2014…served as an assistant captain for the Burlington Jr. Barracudas for the 2013-14 season…honor student at Kings Christian Collegiate…also participated in Elite Level soccer since 2004…earned MVP honors in both soccer and field hockey.

Personal: Tristyn Abby Svetek…born in March of 1997…daughter of Lesley and Ed Svetek…has two sisters, Cassidy and Ainsley…plans to major in health sciences at UConn.
