– The UConn women’s hockey rising seniors Annie Belanger (Sherbrooke, Quebec) and Lindsay Roethke (Buffalo, Minn.) have been named to the 2016-17 Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team announced by the league office on Wednesday. The duo are among 11 UConn student-athletes garnering All-Academic team honors this season.

Both Belanger and Roethke are among a league record 11 student-athletes from four different schools in the league named Hockey East Top Scholar-Athletes after compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the season. Belanger and Roethke are also three-time members of the conference’s all-academic team.

Recent graduate Lexi Lersch (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was one of five student-athletes to reach “Distinguished Scholar” status in 2016-17, having qualified for the All-Academic team in each of her four seasons of play.

Rising senior Leah Lum (Richmond, British Columbia) and rising junior Jaime Fox (Unionville, Ontario) is a two-time honoree with her spot on this year’s team. The Huskies earning the honor for the first time in their careers were rising seniors Justine Fredette (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Theresa Knutson (Onalaska, Wisc.) and Marisa Maccario (Marblehead, Mass.), rising sophomores Catherine Crawley (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and Emily Reid (Whitby, Ontario) and graduate Jessica Stott (Niverville, Manitoba).



Hockey East announced 123 student-athletes have been named to the league’s 2016-17 All-Academic Team. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which she was actively competing.
