Huskies Picked to Finish Fifth in Conference

BOSTON, Mass. – The UConn women’s ice hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll, receiving 32 points. The Huskies move up one place from last year’s poll, where they were predicted to finish 6th with 24 points.

Boston College was picked as the conference favorite, receiving all other eight coaches’ first place votes and a total of 64 points. BC’s first place vote went to the second favorite Boston University. Northeastern came in at third with 50 points followed by Maine with 34 points, just two points ahead of the Huskies.

The Huskies kick off their season with an exhibition match on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum against the Whitby Wolves. UConn kicks off its regular season on the road against Boston University on Oct. 2.
