STORRS, Conn. – Coming off a split series at RPI last weekend, the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team welcomes Penn State for a two-game home stand at the Freitas Ice Forum on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Huskies went 1-1 against the Engineers last week, giving them a 3-2 overall record heading into the series with the Nittany Lions. After dropping a 3-0 decision to RPI Friday, UConn defeated the Engineers 4-1 in game two on Saturday.

Juniors Leah Lum (Richmond, B.C.) and Theresa Knutson (Onalaska, Wis.) and freshman Briana Colangelo (Whitby, Ont.) each tallied three points in Saturday’s game. Freshman goaltender Morgan Fisher (Vernon, Conn.) made her first career start and earned her first win in her first appearance in net for the Huskies.

The Huskies and the Nittany Lions met for the first time last season where UConn scooped up a pair of victories on the road at Pegula Arena.

Penn State is currently 1-4-1 overall this season with its only win being an 8-1 blowout against Union. Despite dominating the Dutchwomen by seven goals in game one, Union pulled a 4-2 victory over Penn State in game two on Oct. 8.

More recently, the Nittany Lions went 0-1-1 against RV/RV Boston University, playing the Terriers to a 3-3 tie at home on Oct. 14 followed by a 7-2 loss at home in game two the next day.

UP NEXT…

The Huskies will open their Hockey East slate with conference front-runner Boston College in a home-and-home series beginning in Storrs on Friday, Oct. 28.
