Women's Ice Hockey Defeated by No.10 Boston College 5-1

STORRS, Conn. (November 18, 2006) - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team was defeated by No.10 Boston College, 5-1, on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn.

The Eagles (9-1-1, 5-1-0 HE) were the first to get on the board in the first period at 9:50. Meghan Fardelmann scored on a feed from Maggie Taverna and Stephanie Olchow.

The Huskies (9-4-0, 6-1-0 HE) responded just a few minutes later and capitalized on a power play. Freshman Amy Hollstein (Pembroke, Mass.) found the back of the net after a dish from sophomore Nicole Tritter (Toronto, Ont.) and freshman Dominique Thibault (L'Original, Ont.) at 16:48.

Boston College scored in less than a minute to begin the second period. Maggie Taverna scored off a pass from Allie Thunstrom and Tracy Johnson. The Eagles would strike again in the second period, this time at 14:12 with Anna McDonald with the goal.

In the third period, Boston College would score two more times, with Allie Thunstrom converting on a power play at 8:30. Deborah Spillane scored the Eagles final goal of the game at 11:08.

UConn looks to get back on track tomorrow whey it plays host to Boston University at 1 p.m.
