    HAMDEN, Conn. – The UConn women’s lacrosse team dominated intrastate foe Quinnipiac (0-2) on Saturday afternoon with a 20-6 victory over the Bobcats to improve to 3-0 on the season. Connecticut saw 10 Huskies find the back of the net in the contest with Kacey Pippitt and Katherine Finkelston each scoring four goals.

    The Huskies, who have recorded a 3-0 start to the season for the second time in three years, outshot the Bobcats 37-15 on the afternoon. Freshman keeper Shannon Nee earned her third win of the season after registering two saves and allowing four goals, while both Marya Fratoni and Brittney Testa each saw time defending the goal. Fratoni finished with three saves.

    The two squads exchanged goals to start the game with Quinnipiac dotting the scoreboard first followed by a Husky goal a minute later. Connecticut, 19-8 in draw controls, took control of the game when they began a 5-0 run at 24:49 in the first half and never looked back.

    Junior Lauren Kahn led the team with eight points after scoring two goals and dishing out a team-high six assists against the rebels. Kahn now leads the Huskies with 19 points as she is second on the team in scoring with nine goals and has a team-best 10 assists. Pippitt, earning her third consecutive hat trick, is UConn’s scoring leader with 10 goals over the first three games. It was a milestone showing for Finkelston who tallied four goals for her first collegiate goals and first hat trick.


     

     

    Connecticut will search for its third consecutive home opener victory when the Huskies welcome New Hampshire to Storrs on Wednesday, March 6, for UConn’s 2013 home opener. The game is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
