Binghamton, N.Y. - Behind four-goal efforts from seniors M.E. Lapham and Kiersten Tupper, the UConn women's lacrosse squad earned a 14-12 victory at Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. UConn improved to 3-1 on the season. Binghamton dropped to 0-2.
Saturday was UConn's second contest in as many days after falling to BC on Friday, 19-9, after several delays due to the weather in Storrs.
Junior Brittney Testa finished with nine saves to earn the victory. The Huskies jumped on top with two from Lapham and a goal each by Chelsea Hauswirth and Shannon Kerr in the opening 4:03 and never relinquished the lead.
With UConn holding an 11-6 edge at 21:20 of the second half, Binghamton made a rally with a 6-1 scoring run to even the score at 12-12 with just 3:51 remaining in the second half. UConn responded with the game-winning goal from Lauren Kahn at 3:12, followed by an insurance tally from Kacey Pippitt with eight seconds remaining.
UConn will be in action next at UNH on Wednesday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m.
