SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Husky lacrosse team dropped their first game of the 2013 season with a 18-7 loss at No. 5/6 Syracuse on Friday afternoon in the BIG EAST opener. UConn is now 6-1 overall and 0-1 in league action, while Syracuse improves to 4-2 (1-0 BIG EAST).

The Huskies, outshot 42-18 by the Orange, won 12 out of 25 draw controls on Friday. Connecticut saw two goalkeepers defend the Husky net with Shannon Nee (5-1) being handed the loss after 44 minutes where she allowed 15 goals and registered nine saves. Kelsey Richardson was the winning keeper for Syracuse following six saves and only one goal allowed.

Morgan O'Reilly led the team with three points after scoring a game-high three goals, while six other Huskies tallied one point each. Katherine Finkelston, Carly Palmucci, Ally Fazio and Catherine Gross each found the back of the net for Connecticut. Dishing out assists in Friday's loss was Lauren Kahn and Kacey Pippitt.

The Huskies return to Storrs on Tuesday, March 26 at 4 p.m. when they welcome the Oregon Ducks for a nonconference match at George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
