STORRS, Conn. – Six goals from senior Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) boosted the UConn women’s lacrosse team to a 17-6 victory against Cincinnati Saturday at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.

Finkelston led the team with six goals, followed by senior Alyson Fazio (Methuen, Mass.), junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) and sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) who each finished with three goals on the day.

The Huskies went on a 6-0 run to start the game, with two goals each from Finkelston, Nolan and Fazio. Cincinnati did not get on the board until over 15 minutes had expired in the first half, but UConn retaliated with four unanswered goals to take a 10-1 lead with eight minutes to play in the first half.

Cincinnati managed to grab two more goals for the end of the first half, but goals from Jordan and junior Maggie Tripodi (Syracuse, N.Y.) put UConn on top 12-3 heading into halftime.

Finkelston dominated the game coming out of halftime, scoring three of UConn’s five second-half goals. The Bearcats doubled their score in the second half, tallying three goals sporadically over the last 30 minutes. Freshman Cait Leary (Suffern, N.Y.) nabbed her second goal of the season with just over 10 minutes to play.

Jordan rounded out the scoring for UConn with 6:36 left on the clock and the score remained 17-6 as time expired. Nolan assisted both Leary and Jordan to finish with five total points (3g, 2a).

Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) stopped 12 shots, six in each half, which brings her to 99 total saves on the season. She also picked up three ground balls and caused one turnover. Nee has recorded double-digit save totals in six out of ten matches this season.

The Huskies will play two straight games on the road, the first against Marquette on Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m. at Valley Fields in Milwaukee.
