CINCINNATI, Ohio - The UConn lacrosse team defeated Cincinnati, 17-8, behind a trifecta of hat tricks on Friday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 8-5 on the season as they earned their first BIG EAST win of the season, while the Bearcats 3-10 and 0-6.
Midfielders Kacey Pippitt, Lauren Kahn and Jordan Christopher all registered three goals for UConn. Pippitt and Christopher also tallied an assist on the day. Morgan O'Reilly scored twice and added two helpers four four total points, while Kiersten Tupper also found the back of the net twice.
For Cincinnati, Megan Bell led the attack with four goals and Laura Simanski chipped in with two scores and an assist.
Brittany Testa stopped 11 shots in goal for the Huskies, while her counterpart Jennifer Walsh made nine saves.
Connecticut held a 37-24 advantage in shots, while the Bearcats grabbed a slight 31-29 edge on groundballs.
The Huskies take the field again on Sunday for a 1:00 pm game at Louisville.
