NEW YORK, N.Y. – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse game against Villanova on Apr. 26 will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 2 (FS2), as announced by the cable company last week.
The contest against the Wildcats, which takes place at 1 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, will be the first nationally-televised game for the UConn program. FS2, an extension of FOX sports, is available in 37 million homes and the station will also be broadcasting the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which is set for Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m.
The Wildcats went 6-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play last season and were picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST this season in a Preseason Coaches' Poll released in January.
The Huskies are 5-0 all-time against Villanova in a series that dates back to 2001. Last season, UConn defeated the Wildcats, 11-10, on the road, getting four goals from former Husky midfielder Catherine Gross. Sophomore attacker Carly Palmucci scored three times and senior midfielder Lauren Kahn, who was named the 2014 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in January, had one goal and three assists.
UConn travels to Brown this weekend for a preseason scrimmage Saturday and opens up regular season play a week later on Feb. 15 with a home game against No. 13 Massachusetts. That game is set for a 1 p.m. start.
