STORRS, Conn. – Junior attacker Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) was deemed the Big East Conference Attacker of the Week for nine-point start to the season, as announced by the league Tuesday.
In a 1-1 week for the Huskies, Nolan kicked off 2017 with a seven-point performance, including three goals and four assists, in UConn’s season opener at Fairfield where the Huskies brought down the Stags 16-12.
The Marcellus, N.Y. native followed that up with a pair of goals in Sunday’s 11-10 loss to James Madison, who is now ranked No. 19 in the IWLCA coaches’ poll. Both of Nolan’s goals came in the last three minutes of Sunday’s contest to put the score within one.
In the first two games of the season, Nolan has five goals on seven total shots, giving her a 71.4 percent shooting percentage. She also caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls.
The Huskies will host Boston College for their home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
