    STORRS, CT (April 1) – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team earned national recognition for the second consecutive week, ranking No. 19 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Weekly Poll. The Huskies went 2-1 last week, including wins over instate opponent Quinnipiac and New Hampshire, and a close defeat against No. 8 Syracuse.

    Beside the IWLCA Poll this week, the Huskies ranked No. 19 in the WomensLacrosse.com Poll. Last week, UConn received votes in the IWLCA Weekly Poll, but was ranked No. 20 by the Warrior/InsideLacrosse.com Poll.

    In UConn’s 2-1 week, Kariane Lauri had three goals and four assists to lead Connecticut. She also collected five ground balls, four draw controls and had one caused turnover, while Heather Levins added five goals. Kelly Feeley also had strong outings, notching four goals, two assists for six points, while picking up seven ground balls, three draw controls and eight caused turnovers. The Huskies held Syracuse scoreless for the first 20-minutes of the game on Saturday, a feat no other team has accomplished this season against the Orangewomen.
