Nee earns two weekly accolades

STORRS, Conn.- UConn lacrosse’s freshman goalkeeper Shannon Nee earned two honors on Monday afternoon after registering 10 saves in a 10-7 Husky victory over No. 6 Notre Dame. The Lancaster, Pa. native was named this week’s BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and’s  Rookie of the Week. It marks her first conference accolade of her career.

“Shannon has had a great season so far and she was great against Notre Dame,” said head coach Katie Woods. “It was such a great win for our program and she was a huge part of it.”

Nee totaled 90 minutes of action defending the net for UConn in a 2-0 week against Marquette and the Fighting Irish where she allowed only nine goals and made 11 saves.

The Huskies, now ranked No. 16 in thedeBeer Women’s Poll, round out the regular season this weekend when they face No. 7 Georgetown on Friday at 4 p.m. and No. 17 Loyola (Md.) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
