STORRS, Conn. - Coming off of two road victories, the UConn women's lacrosse team closes out the 2012 season at home against Villanova on Friday at 4 p.m. and against No. 14 Loyola at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Huskies have a record of 9-5 and are currently ranked sixth in the BIG EAST Conference.

The match against Loyola will also be Senior Day where UConn will honor Colleen DeRonda, M.E. Lapham, Megan Lally, Stephanie Norton and Kiersten Tupper.

Last Friday afternoon, Connecticut took on Cincinnati in what turned out to be a crushing offensive performance by the Huskies who won 17-8. UConn had a trio of hat tricks from the midfield. Junior Jordan Christopher, sophomore Lauren Kahn and sophomore Kacey Pippitt all tallied three goals against the Bearcats.

The Huskies dominated the game on both ends of the field. Aside from their 17 goals, the team notched five assists and 37 shots on goal. On the defensive side, the Huskies accounted for 29 ground balls and eleven caused turnovers. Junior goalie Brittany Testa finished with eleven saves.

After its victory against Cincinnati, UConn traveled to Louisville two days later to take on the Cardinals. In a back-and-forth battle, the Huskies scored six out of the final eight goals to come away with a 10-9 victory. UConn was led by Lapham and junior Mackenzie Rainone, who netted three and four goals respectively.

Though down at halftime by three goals, the Huskies rallied early after the break, and took a two score lead at the 15:27 mark with goals from Lapham and Kahn. The Cardinals scored again to bring the game within one, but Testa and the rest of the UConn defense stood their ground and hung on for the victory.
