Feeley Helps Stops Boston University, 8-5



    STORRS, CT (April 30) – Kelly Feeley (Collingswood, NJ) led the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team to a 8-5 win over Boston University in the Huskies last regular season home game on Tuesday evening at Morrone Stadium. UConn improved its overall record to 9-6, while BU dropped to 6-11 on the season.

    Boston University’s Kelly Trahon struck first only 27-seconds into the game. At the 4:36 mark, Kariane Lauri (Memphis, NY) tied the score on a free position shot. The teams played scoreless for the next 10-minutes, until Kristin Abruzzese put the Terriers ahead by one, followed by a Pam Lowie (Cortland, NY) score to knot the game again. UConn went on to score the next four goals, including three from Feeley and another from Lowie. Feeley extended her scoring streak to 14 straight games, while Lowie has scored in the last 12 contests. At the half, the Huskies held the 6-2 lead.

    The Terriers opened the second half notching the first three goals to bring the score within one. Abruzzese notched two goals plus an assist, and Katie Nordhoff added the other score. Tracy Mullaney (Cockeysville, MD) put the Huskies up by two (7-5) at the 12:12 mark. Feeley netted a shot with one-second remaining in regulation to give the Huskies the 8-5 win.

    Feeley ended the game with four goals and collected seven ground balls, while Lowie added two goals of her own. Jennifer Wong (Greenwood Village, CO) earned her second collegiate start in as many games, stopping 8 shots.

    UConn will play in its regular season game on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 pm at Towson University.
