STORRS, Conn.- UConn women’s lacrosse standout Lauren Kahn was selected to the 2013 IWLCA Second Team All-America as announced by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday morning. The junior midfielder was also named a Synapse Sports First Team All-American. Kahn becomes only the fourth Husky to be named to an IWLCA All-American squad.
“I am so excited for Lauren to be named an All-American. She had such an amazing season and has helped to take this program to a new level,” stated head coach Katie Woods. “She is a true competitor and became a complete midfielder for us this year leading the team in almost every stat. I’m very excited to have her back next year as we look to build on our success from this season.”
Kahn, an All-Northeast Region First Team selection, was fantastic for the Huskies her junior campaign leading the squad in nearly every category, including goals (42), assists (23), points (65), ground balls (47), draw controls (61) and caused turnovers (34). The Nanuet, N.Y. native was named the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST Team. Following two goals and an assist against Syracuse in the BIG EAST Semifinals, she was named to the 2013 All-Tournament Team.
