STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut head lacrosse coach Katie Woods announced the 2013 schedule, which is highlighted by seven home games, including four-straight contests in April. UConn will play in eight non-conference games and eight BIG EAST contests.
The Huskies hit the road for three straight non-conference contests to open the season, starting at Iona on February 23. UConn will then go to BC on February 27, followed by the final of the three-game road swing at Quinnipiac on March 2.
The first home game of the year will take place on Wednesday, March 6 against UNH at 3:30 p.m. All home games will be played at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs. Last season, UConn finished at 4-4 in Storrs and an impressive 6-2 on the road.
Connecticut alternates home and away contest the next five matches, beginning at Fairfield on March 9. Binghamton heads to Storrs on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m.
The BIG EAST Conference had three teams (Notre Dame, Loyola, Syracuse) advance to the 16-team NCAA Tournament a year ago, with Syracuse falling in the NCAA Championship to Northwestern. The Huskies will open BIG EAST competition opens at Syracuse on Friday, March 22 at 3 p.m.
UConn play host to the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday, March 26 at 4 p.m. in one of the last non-conference games.
UConn closes the season with seven of eight matches against BIG EAST contests, starting with road games at Rutgers and Villanova on April 5 and April 7, respectively.
A four-game home stretch highlights the BIG EAST campaign from April 12-April 21. UConn will face Cincinnati at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 12, followed by home contests against Louisville (Sunday, April 14 - 12 p.m.), Marquette (Friday, April 19 - 7 p.m.) and Notre Dame (Sunday, April 21 - 12 p.m.). Marquette will compete as an independent in 2013 and will join the BIG EAST Conference in 2014.
Connecticut will close out the regular season at Georgetown on April 26 and at BIG EAST Tournament Champion Loyola on April 28.
The 2013 BIG EAST Tournament will be held at Multi-Sport Field on the campus of Georgetown University on May 2 and 4. The top-four teams in the league advance to the BIG EAST Tournament.
