Rowing Takes On St. Joseph's And Dayton

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Connecticut women's rowing team won two out of four races on Sunday morning as it went up against St. Jospeh's and Dayton. The UConn novice eight and the second varsity eight came in first, while the varsity eight came in second and the varsity four fell to St. Joseph's.

The UConn varsity eight boat came in at a time of 6:58.1 and consisted of senior Kathy Les (South Windsor, Conn.), sophomore Gretchen Stern (Rexford, N.Y.), sophomore Kim Weber (Ridgefield, Conn.), junior Sarah Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.), junior Rebecca Likar (East Lyme, Conn.), junior Katie Rauscher (Manchester, Conn.), sophomore Morfia Efthimiou (Stonington, Conn.), junior Sylvia Czupi (Woodbridge, Conn.), senior Kathy Les (South Windsor, Conn.) and sophomore Hailey Rosa (Mansfield, Conn.). St. Joseph's was first in 6:45.6 and Dayton was at 7:03.4.

The UConn second varsity eight was first in 6:54.0 while St. Joseph's was second in 7:08.5 followed by Dayton in 7:39.4. The UConn boat was Taylor Hoige (Baldwinsville N.Y.), junior Kristen Beasley (Centerville, Mass.), junior Liz Harsley (Riverdale, N.J.), junior Julie Konstantino (Orange, Conn.), junior Lizzie Littlewood (Mystic, Conn.), sophomore Audrey Squire (Kinnelon, N.J.), junior Jennifer Reynolds (South Hero, Vt.), sophomore Amanda Cote (Wakefield, R.I.) and junior Mikey Sevick (Simsbury, Conn.).


 

 

The Husky novice eight was first in 7:04.7 while St. Joseph's was second in 7:11.3 followed by Dayton at 7:13.9 and Dayton B at 7:33.1. The UConn boat in that race was novice eight boat was freshman Sara Trevisani (Duxbury, Mass.), freshman Mary Grace Haggett (Ledyard, Conn.), freshman Andriel Doolittle (Clinton, Conn.), senior Amy Kessler (Bridgewater, N.J.), junior Katherin Siracusa (Storrs, Conn.), freshman Diana Filipek (Sewell, N.J.), freshman Amanda Sibley (Old Lyme, Conn.), freshman Dana Haddad (Storrs, Conn.) and freshman Jessica Chames (Hookset, N.H.).

The UConn varsity four came in at 8:13.4 while St. Joseph's was 8:06.4. Racing for UConn was: junior Elizabeth Bernard (Bridgeport, Conn.), sophomore Diana Ramirez (El Monte, Calif.), freshman Rose Edreira (Newburtgh, N.Y.), freshman Kylie Angell (Trumbull, Conn.) and junior Leah Masopust (Morris, Conn.).

The Huskies return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Villanova.
