Rowing Competes At Murphy Cup

The rowing team had both a varsity and junior varsity boat in the event.

CAMDEN, N.J. - The University of Connecticut rowing competed in the varsity eight and the junior varsity events on Saturday at the Murphy Cup.

The junior varsity eight narrowly missed advancing to the final by 0.22 seconds to Temple.

The varsity eight finished third in their qualifying heat and advanced to the petite final. The boat then went on to finish third in the petite final for ninth place overall.

The Huskies competed against such schools as Holy Cross, Temple and Bucknell later this season and at the Dad Vail and American Athletic Conference Championship regatta on May 18.

The UConn varsity eight boat was: Charlotte Kelley (cox), Audrey Kelley (stroke), Natalie Carlone (seven), Kate Hughes (six), Julia Roth (five), Laura Webster (four), Heather Norris (three), Abbie Viner (two), Erin Mounce (bow).

The UConn junior varsity boat was: Elise McCormick (cox), Christine Latona (stroke), Diana Gryszkiewicz (seven), Haley Ullinger (six), Mikayla Hudson (five), Teresa Starzecki(four), Danielle Wrubel (three), Chelsea Zabel (two), Megan Duva (bow).
