COVENTRY, Conn. – After being on the road for the last three weekends, the University of Connecticut women’s rowing team hosted UMass in Coventry, Conn. The Huskies tallied a first-place finish in the third V8+.
The V8+ kicked off the regatta on Saturday morning, taking second in a time of 6:54.05 behind UMass’ 6:43.57. The second V8+ also claimed second in 7:04.71, while the Minutewomen finished first (6:53.11).
The V4+ grabbed a second-place finish in their race in a time of 7:52.94, while the UConn ‘A” (8:18.13) and UConn ‘B’ (8:41.07) went second and third in the second varsity 4.
UConn’s third V8+ wrapped up the day with the Huskies’ only first-place finish of the day, besting UMass by more than 10 seconds in a time of 7:35.25.
The V8+ boat consisted of Jun Takeda (cox), Courtney Dawless (stroke), Audrey Kelley (seven), Nikoline Laidlaw (six), Maja Barnouw (five), Sierra Mazur (four), Alyssa Hopson (three), Arielle Sherman-Golembeski (two) and Mae Hanson (bow).
The Husky second V8+ was Caroline Bemis (cox), Emily Powers (stroke), Heather Norris (seven), Laura Webster (six), Molly Bugos (five), Katie Ullinger (four), Rachel Signor (three), Katherine Wheatley (two) and Shannon Cox (bow).
The third V8+ included Norelis Collado (cox), Michela Zunino (stroke), Hayley Brant (seven), Megan Duva (six), Mikayla Hudson (five), Taylor Bonadies (four), Amy Robinson (three), Mai Walters (two) and Christine Black (bow).
The second V4+ was Alexandra Coults (cox), Sara Nelson (stroke), Chisom Mokwuah (three), Kate Boudreau (two) and Emily George (bow).
The third V4+ included Madeline Farrell (cox), Lena Karotkin (stroke), Abigail Fudge (three), Lydia Pfisterer (two) and Kristen Esposito (bow).
The Huskies are back on the water on Saturday, April 9 when they compete at the two-day Knecht Cup in West Windsor Township, N.J.
